Article One is an Australian boutique consultancy delivering results for government and organisations who want to enhance their social impact, workplace culture, performance and compliance with law and policy.

 We conduct reviews and audits, carry out high-quality legal-policy research, and provide strategic advice and tailored products to support positive change in law, policy and workplaces.

Our unique perspective comes from decades of experience working to create social change within and across Government, business and the NFP sector. We bring a working knowledge of these settings – including how to have maximum impact with limited resources and bring theory to practice.

The team

Article One partners and associates have diverse experience working for and alongside state and federal Government, the not-for-profit sector and business. Our Partners have worked for state and federal anti-discrimination and human rights statutory bodies, Royal Commissions, family violence organisations and as executives within the Victorian Government overseeing organisational change and policy development.


Amy Rogers

Amy is a human rights lawyer by trade and anti-discrimination and equality expert whose toolbox includes research, organisational reviews, policy development, campaigning and advocacy.

Amy’s career has focussed on promoting human rights, equality and organisational change – working for Government, NGOs and human rights institutions at state, national and international settings. Her experience across settings and policy areas as a pro bono solicitor, policy manager and leading law and policy reform projects and organisational reviews, enable her to address complex problems tailored for government, business and other organisations. She has directed major reports on justice and corrections settings for a Royal Commission and state Government. Amy has also moonlighted as a campaigner and worked in international human rights in Mongolia and other international settings.

Amy was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2019 allowing her to travel across the, United Kingdon, Sweden, Iceland and New Zealand to conduct research on best practice for organisations to promote gender pay equality and close the gender, ethnicity and disability pay gap.

Amy’s offerings include human rights and social impact related research and policy development, corrections and justice reform, organisational audits, reviews and advice to create fairer, safer and more equitable workplaces – including identifying strategies to close their pay gap and comply with new legal requirements.

Amy has a Bachelor of Commence from the University of Sydney and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales, and has commenced a Master of Public International law (disrupted by babies and work!).

Areas of special interest – the implementation of anti-discrimination and workplace equality laws and best practice; pay equality; justice reform and independent monitoring of corrections and other closed settings; and enhancing organisational culture.


Claire Marshall

Claire is a human rights lawyer with extensive experience working with institutions in the public, private and not for profit sector on how to become safer, more respectful and more strategic workplaces.

 

She has led organisations in strategic planning and organisational change, policy development and implementation, and systemic research on the drivers and impacts of gender inequality and gendered violence in a number of complex settings, advising organisations on how to create lasting change. She has worked in multiple senior and Executive leadership roles in the government and NFP sector. She holds a BA, a Juris Doctor, and a Pathway to Politics Fellowship from the University of Melbourne.


Jack Regester

Jack is a former senior executive in the Victorian government with extensive human rights, public policy and communications experience. Jack works to lead, generate, influence, and implement systemic change in organisational and public policy. He has achieved results for high-profile organisations and Government including leading Aboriginal justice reform at a state-Government level and through Royal Commissions, human rights institutions and for international NGOs.

Jack offers advice on strategic leadership, policy analysis and development, youth and community engagement, stakeholder management, communications and campaigns, and report writing.

We have a strong record of delivering strategic outcomes for a number of high profile organisations.

A few examples:

  • Providing strategic advice to the Australian Human Rights Commission on a proposal for a National Human Rights Framework and Act.

  • Provision of advice to BHP to overhaul internal systems to better respond to gendered violence including by improving their complaints process to be more victim-centred.

  • Working with Ambulance Victoria to design a redress scheme for victim survivors of gendered violence.

  • Developing a research-driven national campaign strategic for UNICEF Australia.

  • Providing strategic advice and developing content for the Commonwealth Disability Royal Commission.
